William I. Pop

William I. Pop has one question on his mind, all day, every day: will I pop?
William is a relief valve, and he's a bit of a worrier. Every time the pressure gauge twitches, he tenses up. "Is this it? Is it happening? Should I pop? I feel like I should pop." Then the pressure settles back down, and William lets out a long, relieved sigh. (He's a relief valve. He's good at those.)
Here's the thing his friends keep reminding him: William doesn't have to decide anything. His spring is set, his set pressure is stamped right on his nameplate, and when the pressure really does reach that point, he'll open exactly when he's supposed to. No guessing required.
Still, William likes to be prepared. He gets nervous if his inlet valve isn't car-sealed open, frets about backpressure from the header, and personally reminds maintenance when his test date is coming up. He'd rather be pulled and bench tested a hundred times than fail to open once.
And when the big moment does come? William pops right on cue, sends the pressure off to the flare, reseats, and spends the rest of the shift telling everyone about it.
Perfect for laptops, water bottles, toolboxes, and anyone who has ever stared at a pressure trend creeping toward set and asked the same question William does.
