PSM Insight Human Rights Policy
1. Policy Statement, Purpose, and Scope
PSM Insight LLC ("PSM Insight") is committed to respecting internationally recognized human rights in everything we do. Our work in process safety exists to protect workers, communities, and the environment from major industrial accidents, and that same respect for people guides how we run our business.
This policy is informed by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Labour Organization Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
This policy applies to PSM Insight's owners, employees, and contractors, and to all of our consulting, training, and software activities, including PHA Insights. We also expect our suppliers, subcontractors, and business partners to uphold these principles.
2. Our Commitments
-
No forced or compulsory labor. We do not use forced, bonded, indentured, or prison labor, or any form of human trafficking. All work is voluntary, and people are free to end their employment or engagement.
-
No child labor. We do not employ anyone under the legal minimum working age, and no one under 18 performs hazardous work.
-
Fair wages and working hours. We pay a living wage that meets or exceeds legally required wages and benefits, pay on time, and comply with laws on working hours and overtime.
-
Nondiscrimination and respect. We make employment and business decisions based on qualifications and performance. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or any other characteristic protected by law, and we do not tolerate harassment or abusive treatment.
-
Health and safety. We provide a safe and healthy workplace, including for field work at client facilities, where our staff follow site safety requirements and have the right to stop work they believe is unsafe.
-
Freedom of association. We respect the legal right of workers to join or not join associations of their choosing and to bargain collectively.
-
Privacy. We protect the personal information of our people, clients, and partners as described in our Privacy Policy.
-
Communities and environment. Through our process safety work, we help clients prevent fires, explosions, and toxic releases that can harm surrounding communities and the environment.
3. Suppliers, Subcontractors, and Business Partners
We expect the subcontractors, suppliers, and partners we work with to meet the standards in this policy and to comply with applicable labor, employment, and safety laws. We share this policy with subcontractors before engagement and may decline or end a relationship with any party that we find violates these standards and does not correct the issue.
4. Human Rights Assessment and Due Diligence
PSM Insight reviews its human rights risks at least once a year, as part of this policy's annual review. Because we are a small professional services firm whose work is performed by qualified engineers and specialists, our direct human rights risks are low. The review focuses on:
-
Compliance with wage, hour, and employment laws for our employees and contractors.
-
Health and safety of staff working at client facilities, including travel and field work.
-
Labor practices of subcontractors and key suppliers.
-
Protection of personal and confidential client information, including data in PHA Insights.
We record the results of each review, including any issues found and the actions taken to address them, and keep the record with this policy.
5. Reporting Concerns and Non-Retaliation
Anyone, including employees, contractors, clients, and members of the public, may report a concern about a possible violation of this policy by contacting Brandon Morris at brandon@psminsight.com. Reports can be made confidentially.
We will review every report promptly and take appropriate corrective action. PSM Insight does not tolerate retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.
6. Responsibility, Review, and Approval
The Managing Member of PSM Insight LLC is responsible for this policy, its annual review, and its communication to employees, contractors, and subcontractors. This policy is available on request and at https://www.psminsight.com/human-rights-policy
