Hugh D. Struction

When everything else in the unit has had a bad day, Hugh D. Struction is the one who cleans up the mess.

Hugh is a flare, and destruction is literally his middle name. When relief valves lift and the header fills up with gas nobody wants, it all comes to Hugh. He takes it in stride and burns it safely, high above everyone's heads, with a destruction efficiency he'll happily brag about.

Hugh is always ready. His pilots stay lit around the clock, because a flare that isn't burning is just a very tall vent, and Hugh has standards. He keeps a steady purge flowing so air never sneaks back into his header, trusts his knockout drum to catch the liquids before they reach him, and counts on his seal to stop any flashback in its tracks.

He's also a bit vain about his appearance. Smoke is not his look. With the right steam or air assist, Hugh burns clean, and he'd like the neighbors to notice.

Some folks see a flare and think something went wrong. Hugh sees it differently: something went wrong, and the system worked. He's the last line of defense, and he's proud of it.
